Media Relations

PUBLIC/COMMUNITY RELATIONS

Each team manager [or reliable designate] should call games into the media on a regular basis. Media exposure raises awareness and interest and gives our sponsors exposure so everyone benefits. It is very important to be consistent and reliable. As a team you are not going to make the news every time you email in scores but tenacity does pay off . All sports staffs are very small so they tend to appreciate those who send in information on a regular basis .Scores, updated reports [do it right away], schedules[first of season],pictures [team and game pictures] and scorers[for the Telegraph Journal]. Along with upcoming tournaments and big home games [ahead of time] are all important .

This is a very good level of FOOTBALL our community can be proud of ,we should share it with everyone [if you want something to grow you have to share it]. Increasing our attendance ,exposure ,and getting more people involved will grow football and push and pull the caliber of football in our community upwards. Remember you are doing a lot of good ,you are lowering health care costs [thus taxes] and crime rates and you are making our community an attractive place to live and to move to and you are creating active children . We should all be proud to be volunteers , when football reaches out to others it builds support and more people will see its value- this is good public and community relations.

We should be proud to have children , coaches and organizations playing at a high level, how can we share this expertise, skill and knowledge so that others will benefit? Raising every ones level will push everyone to the next level. We are building the confidence of our children [emotional learning] and we give them a line of sight that shows them how to succeed to the next level. We also allow more players , coaches and parents to participate in the program which benefits everyone. Our players and coaches could go to the practices of other teams to help them. Can you play or practice in different areas? Large numbers of players at practices brings more interest in practice , creates a better practice and raises the level of play. Bringing coaches and players to practice creates good community relations and raises skill and knowledge level . This creates more support for our football program as people see it as a way to improve all football in our area.

Encouraging our children matters, after teaching for 25 years and coaching for 33 I know

how children feel about themselves matters. Belief in oneself, confidence and sel-esteem are all extremely important.

If you have any more ideas please lets share them , I hope this information helps each team and child.
