Call for Interest – Coaches / Officials / Managers / Administrators

Fundy Minor Football is planning to operate two new programs for the spring 2010 season and we are presently looking for persons interested in assisting in any capacity.

Program #1  16 and Under Tackle Football

Fundy Minor Football is looking to form one or more U16 teams to play tackle football this spring.  The Capital and Moncton areas will also be forming teams and the opportunity for games locally (if we have more than one team) and/or games with teams from other areas exists.  All teams will participate in three jamborees and talent camps which will be used to select players for a provincial team to compete at a tournament in Montreal in July.

If you are interested in coaching or helping in any capacity with a Fundy Minor Football spring tackle team please contact Marcus Whittingham at marcuswhittingham3@hotmail.com

Football NB is presently accepting applications for Head Coach, Defensive Coordinator, and Offensive Coordinators for the provincial team.  Coaches interested in these positions on the Provincial team should contact committee chair Justin DeMerchant at 206-2980, 476-7724(cell) demerchant@richlawstudent.com ASAP.

Program #2  U15 Flag Football

Fundy Minor Football is planning on operating a spring flag football league (5 vs. 5) for players under the age of 15 years (player who were peewee age last fall).  Teams will compete against each other in organized league play and may have the opportunity to compete against teams from the Capital Area, Moncton and Northern NB.  The number of teams will be limited only by the number of players, coaches and officials available (and possibly field time).  There will be a Fundy Championship and teams may be eligible to enter the provincial tournament, the winner of which gets a trip to Ottawa to represent NB in the National Tournament in August 2010.   Team NB will have airfare, accommodations and meals provided for 6 players and two coaches/managers

There are plans to have two divisions.  Division 1 will be a co-ed with a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 4 females on the six person team.  These teams will be eligible for a provincial playoff that will crown a team to represent the province as Team NB at the U15 Nationals in Ottawa on August 12-14, 2010.  Division 2 will be all teams who don’t meet the requirements for Division 1.  There will be a local championship (and possibly a provincial championship) but teams from this division will not be eligible for the nationals.

League play to start ~ May 15th end date to be determined by provincial play downs.

Training – coaching clinics (Community Sport – Initiation – Flag) available.  For coaches who have tackle coaching certification a ~1/2 day session will be required. Officials will also be needed for this league and training will be available for anyone interested. This is an excellent opportunity for youth football officials to gain experience.
